Facebook Ticker

Hey everybody...I noticed today there is a ticker which spits out your dear friends (or enemy's updates) like it or not.

And it pretty annoying to see the damned ticker, so the simple thing to do was to just pull up the ticker demarcation over your online friends list and pull it all the way UP until you cannot. Simple right?

Some other ways are (though not tried) to add extensions on Chrome - https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/ldfdjdnohanpkljbgeipdoeiefheaefp?hl=en-GB

In Firefox, you will need to install a user script. To do so, first install the Greasemonkey add-on and then install this user script. When prompted, restart Firefox and the ticker will be gone. Do note that this user script removes the entire right column of Facebook, including the ticker, event invitations, ads, sponsored stories, friends' photos, and so on.

Let me tell you honestly, I have not tried these extensions, but you can - and let me know the outcome.

Video

Business is always good with a short video. Some tips on why and how a video is good for your biz - http://www.trada.com/blog/how-to-market-your-business-with-video/

Facebook is not a safe haven

Apart from the usual rule that tells you not to post your favourite photo on line on your favourite soap - Facebook, there is yet another scam that has come up recently.

I was almost a victim of the same. One of my friend it seemed, was trying to call me through a video chat on FB. It was not him though. Probably some scamster.

Be careful about your private info being screwed up. Read this - http://nakedsecurity.sophos.com/2011/07/08/facebook-scammers-spread-app-pretending-to-be-video-calling/

Updates Updates

Ever wondered how you can get updates of your favourite online soap Facebook without actually going to it? Well its here - http://hardlywork.in/. Login with your Facebook / Twitter creds and viola you get the update. (Original information from here - http://www.sarayoo.info/tech-blog/item/45-use-facebook-like-an-excel-spreadsheet-using-this-simple-trick.html)

There is another integrated way to get the Google and Facebook or the Google and Twitter updates together. This blog post explains how - http://teckeela.blogspot.com/2011/07/how-to-view-your-facebook-and-twitter.html

Precisely the links are here - http://crossrider.com/install/529-google-tweet and http://crossrider.com/install/519-google-facebook

Wondering if its an intrusion to privacy with one's login details shared at too many places.

My thoughs on Google +

Okay here are some random thoughts I have on Google +

1. Design wise - nothing different from what I see on Google, Gmail or most of the Google product. Except Orkut of course.

2. Circles are cool to use. Even nicer to see that I can add the same person in 2 different places.

Nothing new I see so far. Its the same chat, grouping as in Facebook and streaming the thoughts as in Twitter / Facebook.

My question is - how can I stop the streaming of a certain friend but have him in my circle? Maybe I am missing something. Answers anyone?
